LISLE, IL – MAY 4, 2016 – Aldera, a leading provider of core administration and private portal solutions for healthcare payers and administrators, today announced that Kentucky-based Baptist Health Plan is live with individual online premium payment capabilities powered by InstaMed. The fully integrated solution gives individuals purchasing a BHP policy through Kynect, Kentucky’s Health Exchange, the ability to make secure premium payments online using the Aldera member portal.
Baptist Health Plan, which is backed by Baptist Health, a large not-for-profit healthcare system in Kentucky, exceeded its 2015 exchange enrollment projections by about 600 percent and needed an online premium payment solution that could scale easily. That, coupled with the desire to improve the overall member experience through ease of payments, was the key reason Baptist Health Plan chose the solution.
“I was impressed with how quickly and easily we were able to get the online premium payment system up and running,” said Preston Gorman, Director of Information Technology at Baptist Health Plan. “Because the InstaMed solution was pre-integrated with our existing platform (Aldera), we went from offering paper billing and payment to an insurance purchasing experience just like any other online shopping experience. The end-to-end implementation took only 45 days.”
The Aldera and InstaMed integrated solution allows groups and members to access account summary information, schedule reoccurring premium payments, make one-time premium payments and view updated account balances immediately via the Aldera Member Portal. The Aldera-InstaMed partnership is a key component of Aldera’s Shop2Manage™ Engagement Model for connected healthcare engagement, which allows members, providers and payers to analyze, engage and manage healthcare, and a big piece of that puzzle is providing members with online payment capabilities that mirror other retail shopping experiences.
With the implementation, Baptist Health Plan now processes the vast majority of its Individual Exchange premium payments online. Baptist Health Plan is also able to offer online premium payment capabilities for individuals purchasing policies directly on the BHP website, and will extend the functionality to group payments later this summer.
“Baptist Health Plan is the first Aldera client to go live with the InstaMed integration and is continued proof of our flexible implementation process,” said Darin LeGrange, President and CEO of Aldera. “The implementation was quick and seamless, and with this enhancement, Baptist Health Plan will be in position to increase member satisfaction.”
“I can’t speak any more highly of the Aldera and InstaMed teams,” said Gorman. “We were experiencing a much larger scale than expected at a very rapid pace and Aldera saved the day. The technology was easy to integrate and we feel really good about the security. We’ve been completely functional from day one and our customer service reps are able to handle and process a higher transaction volume than they had anticipated. All the way around, this has been a great investment for us and we couldn’t be happier with the results.”
